Your Getting Started checklist explained
What each step of the in-app onboarding checklist means and how progress is tracked.
Last updated August 26, 2026

When you sign in, NestWatch shows a Getting Started checklist on your dashboard. It tracks real progress from your account data, so it always reflects what you've actually done. There's no box to tick manually.
The core steps
These walk you through the full loop, from setting up a home to getting paid for the visit:
- Add your first property: the home you watch.
- Link a homeowner to it so they get a portal link.
- Create a checklist template so every visit covers the same checks.
- Run an inspection: log a visit with the checklist and photos.
- Generate an AI report from that visit.
- Send the report to the homeowner's portal.
- Set up your service catalog so invoice line items fill in automatically.
- Send your first invoice and get paid.
Optional power-ups
Once the core loop is done, NestWatch suggests optional power-ups that make the business run itself: connect payouts to get paid online, verify your email sending domain, add your logo to brand the portal, invite teammates, and connect your calendar or accounting tools. Set these up whenever you're ready. They're never required to run a visit.
Hiding the checklist
The checklist celebrates and collapses automatically once every core step is complete. You can also dismiss it any time with the Dismiss button. It won't come back after that, even if you sign in on another device.
